School in Rhode Island is finally about to start on Monday but at the final hour, one teachers’ union has filed a last minute lawsuit to keep schools closed.
Late on Thursday, four days before the long awaited first day of school, NEA RI has confirmed that if they get their way, the schools in the Bristol-Warren district will not open for classes.
And here we were thinking that the uncertainty facing parents couldn’t get any worse.
My district of Cumberland is not opening for in-person schooling but we found that out with a couple weeks notice—still incredibly challenging for countless families but a lawsuit four days before the first day of school takes things to a whole new level.
