Lots of people have been wondering what former ambassador and governor Nikki haley is going to do next and we now know at least one of the things on her list: She is returning to her education foundation, The Original Six, as the chair of the organization’s board of trustees. Haley named the foundation, often referred to as O6, to represent herself, her siblings, and her parents and its focus is on improving education for rural students, a demographic that has been largely ignored in conversations about K-12 education. Haley grew up in a rural part of South Carolina so it’s likely that she identifies more than most with the needs of those communities.
